AgRural – OUR NEW BRAND TO BETTER REFLECT FARMERS’ NEEDS
Welcome to our new brand – AgRural. You will still get the same great products just under the new brand name. So why the change? The aim of Anderson & Rooney has always been to focus on farmers to help you to do your job better. We feel that the new brand name better reflects our company emphasis – you.

“The aim is to create a brand of value in the marketplace that farmers can recognise and trust,” says Anderson & Rooney managing director Tim Scott. “AgRural shows our focus and dedication to the rural market and to meeting farmers’ needs.”

For a start we will be branding a number of our existing products under the new name AgRural. But the aim will be to eventually brand all our products under this new name. But AgRural is more than just a name. It is a reflection of our desire to keep meeting our customers’ needs, continuing to invest in new technology and to developing cutting edge products to take your dairy farm into the future.

ANDERSON & ROONEY ADOPT NEW STANDARDS FOR EFFLUENT PONDS
No farmer wants a poorly designed effluent system leading to non-compliance with regional council regulations for the management of effluent. It can be time consuming not to mention costly to get it wrong. But as a farmer how do you know?

The new Farm Dairy Effluent (FDE) Design Code of Practice and the Farm Dairy Effluent (FDE) Design Standards set industry-agreed standards for the design and installation of effluent management systems. The standards were developed during a two year consultative process by the Farm Dairy Effluent Code of Practice Steering Group. DairyNZ funded the group to develop the code and standards. Irrigation New Zealand, the New Zealand Milking and Pumping Trade Association, Federated Farmers, Fonterra and DairyNZ are all committed to implementing the standards and the code. At Anderson & Rooney we are choosing to voluntarily adopt the new code as well.

Our managing director Tim Scott is a past president of the New Zealand Milking and Pumping Trade Association and a member of the Farm Dairy Effluent Code of Practice Steering Group. He was involved in the development of the standards. We think it is important for Anderson & Rooney to adopt the code for two reasons:

“Firstly a major aspect of the code was to set performance criteria for effluent systems. This means farmers should be able to utilise the nutrients in effluent more effectively saving farmers money, improving production and reducing environmental impacts,” says Tim.

“Secondly we believe that although the standards are voluntary at this stage, one day they may well become compulsory. So all the systems that we design at Anderson & Rooney will now comply with the standards and code. This means farmers can be confident that any systems that they order from us will meet these standards taking their farm into the future without the need for potential costly adjustments to their systems further down the track.”

At Anderson & Rooney we have already invested in new equipment to ensure our manufacturing processes meet these rigorous standards including the purchase of a thermal welding machine so that all joints on PE100 polyethylene pipe in our effluent systems will have plastic welded joints. These joints are more secure and meet the requirements of the new standards.

“We believe that farmers need confidence that when they contract us to supply their effluent services and equipment that we are meeting the standards effluent systems have to meet,” says Tim. “Voluntarily adopting the new code of practice at Anderson & Rooney will give farmers confidence that their system will be fit for the purpose. This means farmers just have to operate their system correctly to remain compliant making their job easier than ever before.”
